Movement Training
The human being is a complex, interconnected system rather than a collection of isolated muscles and exercises. Movement training includes learning complex movements and skills. It requires you to become an observer of yourself and the way you learn.
“If there is one constant, it is the cultivation of high-quality directed attention, or the complete absence of it.”
Handstand, spinal wave, juggling, chin ups, coordination are some of the possibilities. Practicing diverse types of movements will make you feel and be more capable in and with your body. A feeling you can not put into words but can only experience. Practicing together with others further fosters playfulness, creativity, and non-verbal communication.
Functional Breathwork
Many people have heard of breathwork, tried it, or are at least aware of its existence. There are many different approaches. I follow the methodology of Patrick McKeown and Oxygen Advantage to help people retrain and improve their breathing patterns. This is an approach used by many top athletes for performance, stress management, and composure under pressure with idea of improving everyday breathing during sleep, rest and physical exercise.
“We breathe around 20,000 times per day. A small change in your breathing pattern can have life long positive effects.”
The goal in my training is to build awareness of what healthy breathing feels like and to practice exercises that help you improve your breathing. Common effects are:
Improvement of oxygen and blood delivery to the body and brain
A nervous system which can access states of relaxation more quickly
A state of mental clarity after or during exercises
Long-term impacts can include higher daily energy levels, faster recovery from physical and psychological stress
Neuro Athletic Training
Applied neurology, increasingly known as neuro athletics, involves a shift in perspective on how the connection between brain and movement can be used to reduce pain and increase performance. "Your brain is always asking one question: am I safe? Prolonged sitting, screens, and inactivity can trigger a threat response and physical pain may be your brain's answer”
Only stretching the part of the body where the pain is located might not lead to a full relief of it.
The applied neurology aspect (Z-Health) helps me to understand the root causes of pain and why untrained senses - vision, balance, and proprioception - can inhibit movement. By training the senses in this way, we use the principles of neuroplasticity to create changes in the brain that can impact other cognitive capacities and the feeling of safety in your own body.
